This piece explores the stillness that comes from slow processes and how our creative skills and mind require time to master. 

As a technique it is an ongoing body of work in my exploration of movement in metal. It introduces radial effect to achieve the movement of metal contrasted by the black jade. The piece plays with the symbolic value of ‘preciousness’ by putting gold at its centre stage and using stone to house the metal which is often the reverse way of creating jewellery.

The brooch is handcrafted; black jade has been carved from the rough stone and the gold ‘lashes’ has been drawn down into a very fine wire from the specially alloyed gold. Every wire is then meticulously soldered to achieve the radial effect.

As with any natural material, each piece is unique and therefore each item is different. This particular ice jade is not replicable but we do have a limited quantity of ice jades available so please contact to view before purchasing.

Availability

Most Yeena Yoon items are made to order. We ask for 10-12 weeks to create your piece, however, on occasion, there are pre-created pieces that are immediately available and these will be dispatched within 5 working days.This particular piece is available, so please get in touch to arrange a viewing.
