This piece explores the stillness that comes from slow processes and how our creative skills and mind require time to master. 

As a technique it is an ongoing body of work in my exploration of movement in metal. It introduces radial effect to achieve the movement of metal contrasted by the black jade. The piece plays with the symbolic value of ‘preciousness’ by putting gold at its centre stage and using stone to house the metal which is often the reverse way of creating jewellery.

The brooch is handcrafted; black jade has been carved from the rough stone and the gold ‘lashes’ has been drawn down into a very fine wire from the specially alloyed gold. Every wire is then meticulously soldered to achieve the radial effect.

One of a Kind
As with any natural material, each piece is unique, and no two items are exactly alike. This particular jade is in limited supply, therefore the size make it to be one of a kind. Smaller size can be made upon request. As with any natural material, each piece is unique and therefore each item could have some variation in colour, shape and inclusions.

Availability

Most Yeena Yoon pieces are made to order. Please allow 10–12 weeks for the creation of your piece. However, on occasion, pre-made pieces are available and will be dispatched within 5 working days. This particular piece is available, so please get in touch to arrange a viewing.
